Knitting has become extremely popular over the last decade, with over fifty three million American knitters. There is fortunately some great news for these knitters: knitting has health benefits that can lead to a calmer, healthier life. In the very busy modern world, it is hard to find an efficient stress reducer. Knitting can help with chronic pain, and alleviate many different conditions, as 90% of all conditions are caused or made worse by stress.

Stress relief is the most important benefit of knitting. It is often compared to yoga as the repetitive motions of knitting can create a similar brain wave state as meditation. One out of three Americans live with high blood pressure, and knitting can alleviate this problem without any medication.

The repetitive motions of knitting can also help those with depression and anxiety, and put you into a more relaxed state. Because of knitting’s focus and relaxation, it has been known to help cases of ADHD. Knitting can also improve your self-esteem, as it is pretty easy to create something for yourself only knowing a few basic skills.

Knitting exercises your mind! In knitting, you are working the logical side of your brain as well as the creative side. There is a lot of basic math involved with knitting. Calculating the number of yards of yarn you will need for your pattern, figuring out the gauge of your knitting, and following knitting charts all exercise the logical side of your brain.

Although knitting has great benefits, make sure you protect yourself against strain knitting can cause. Knit in good lighting with proper glasses to preserve your eyesight. Take focus breaks by looking up and zoning in on objects of different distances.

Stand up and stretch every our or so, as knitting can put strain on your back, fingers, and wrists. Although repetitive motion is relaxing, it can put stress on muscles and joints. Take a break from knitting when you feel anything getting sore, and remember to stretch!

Picking the right knitting needles for relaxing knitting is very important. Try the Addi Turbo knitting needles, as they are the most versatile and high quality knitting needles in the world. The nickel content make the needles feel light and comfortable in your hands, and will move the stitches from one needle to the next with ease.

Learning how to knit can be the first step to a calmer and more relaxing future. The Addi Turbo knitting needles can help with this, and are the perfect needle for any of your projects. These also come in an interchangeable needle set, so you will always have the right size needle at your fingertips.

Do you know what the most exciting part of card making is? It is the time when we are about to design and make our card look special and unique. It is the time when we are about to work on the embellishments of our card to add a personal touch to it. The card embellishment is a very important factor when we are making our cards. It is through the embellishments that we get to have a personal touch with our cards and thus making it look more special.

It is sad to note that some people underestimate the intricacy and detail that often goes into the card making embellishments. Sometimes when people think of embellishments, they only think of a simple paper design that can be attached to the front of your card. Doing so only defeats the purpose of card making. Did you know that there are various options available for our card making embellishments?

We have 3D decoupage, colored and textured paper, die cut tags and light clay designs. These are only few of the embellishments that you could add to make your card come alive. If you would just use your creativity and be a little resourceful, you could even come up with more awesome ways of designing your card. Whether you are rooting for the floral, hearts, stars, or cute bears as a design, you would never go wrong if you would experiment a little in the card making embellishments available in the market.

You could use colored or textured paper with other embellishments like stickers, die cut tags, rubber stamps, and other stuff that you could found at home. You could also maximize the use of light clay designs with your 3D decoupage in order to ensure that the design would truly come alive.

Indeed, there are many ways by which you could find some stuff that you could design your card with. In the same way that there are many ways or combinations by which you could make your card stand out above the rest. You could find materials everywhere. Even though you are out in the woods for a walk you could collect some interesting leaves, plants or tree bark. If you were at the beach you could collect some shells and dried seaweed.

You could even recycle household items like toilet roll tubes or washing up liquid cartons when doing card making. You could cut them into different shapes and paint them when necessary. Indeed there are many ways by which you could embellish your card.

Always on the go for adventure..

Article by Chris Taylor

If you like the art of making candles, chances are excellent that you are always on the lookout for good containers for your home-crafted candles. Glasses, vases, bottles and bowls are all potential jars for holding unique and beautiful candle designs. Candle making jars can be an important part of the overall design. Sometimes they can spark the imagination, while at other times you see a mind picture of the finished product and recreate it for real.

Craft stores are the usual location for candle containers and jars. They are not always labeled as candle jars. You may find containers for candles in the candle holder section where the votive candles are displayed. Sometimes you can find candle jars in flower arranging supplies where vases are displayed.

Although there is some real world candle-making stores, you are more likely to find candle making supplies on the Internet. These small businesses carry all sorts of supplies associated with making of candles. Browse online to find jars specially designed to hold candles, or look for other glassware that would be suitable to hold candle wax.

Sometimes a Mason jar is used to make a jar candle. Because these items can be placed in boiling water, they can handle the rapid temperature changes that are typical with hot candle wax. A jar of tempered glass will be strong enough to handle the extremes of temperature. Even if you don’t like the looks of a standard canning jar, you can find decorative jelly jars that look great as candles.

There are some limitations imposed by the shape of the jar. For example, very narrow necks on the jar may bring the wick and the flame too close to the glass, so that the temperature extremes are too high. Very wide bowls may look attractive to begin with, but may not be as attractive when they begin to burn. Additional wicks may be needed for flame that doesn’t look way out of proportion.

Intriguing shapes are part of creating unusual candles. Look in the floral department of the craft store for ideas about possible candle jars. Bubble jars, rectangles, pillars, square flower vases or votive candle holders for small creations all are ideas that can be used in making candles for home use.

Candle jars are not the only items that you need to consider in making candles. The right holder will not be as attractive if you use wax that is the wrong color. You should pick the best quality wax, wicks and scents for your candles. The right color pigment is also critical. Take time to let your imagination and creativity come to the forefront and you will have a finished product you can be proud of.

Use candle making jars that are different sizes and colors for the maximum visual effect. The mood created by a candle burning in a specially designed jar can improve your emotions, provide energy to your daily life or calm you when you are over stressed. Choosing unique containers adds interest to candle gifts you craft.

Article by Peggy Devereaux

Candles are a wonderful thing that has served man as a source of light for ages beginning with the early Egyptians who developed the first primitive versions of candles all the way up to modern times. Prior to the invention of the electric light in 1879 candles were one of the primary sources of lighting. Today they are still widely used but not as primary light sources. Today there is a myriad of uses for candles and they have evolved into many types, shapes, colors, scents and sizes. Their utilization ranges from small birthday cake candles to large candles used in various types of ceremonies. Candle making tips in this article will enable anyone to enjoy this satisfying craft.

Today in this country there is a very large commercial candle manufacturing industry consisting of many producers both large and small. There are also many individuals who enjoy making their own candles. It is a fun crafting activity where the whole family can participate and produce beautiful candles for the home. Hand made candles make great gifts and many individuals earn extra income by selling their candle creations at flea markets, fund raisers and other places.

Because the candle craft has become so popular the supplies and equipment are generally available most hobby or craft stores. If they are not available locally everything a candle maker will need can be found on the internet. The equipment required for making candles consist of the following:

1. Double boiler2. A good thermometer3. Molds

And that’s all that is required. The wax must be heated to a certain level prior to putting it into the mold. The temperature of the wax is important so it is important to have a good thermometer. A double boiler is used to heat the wax and can be as simple as two different sized pots. The larger one is used to heat water and the smaller one is intended to hold the wax that is to be melted. The smaller pot is placed in the larger pot with the water. Direct heat will in most cases cause the wax to fail. Once the wax reaches the correct temperature it will have a viscosity similar to water and will easily pour into the mold. Scents and colors are to be added to the wax just prior to putting the wax into the mold.

The supplies required to make candles include:

1. Wax2. Wicks 3. Colors4. Scents

There are several types of waxes available to the candle maker. The most used is paraffin wax which is petroleum based. There is also soy, gel and beeswax. Soy wax is a natural product that burns clean and has a naturally pleasing aroma. Gel wax is a clear wax that is good for creative endeavors but requires a little different melting procedures. Wicks are another critical component that must be properly sized and suppliers can provide that information. It is recommended to use wicks with metal clips attached at one end. This facilitates fixing the wick in place by hot gluing it in the right position.

Speaking of molds. It is recommended that the neophyte candler start out with jar candles because there is no demolding involved. The wax and hence the candle remains in the jar. Other types require getting the finished candle out of the mold which might be a little challenging to the first time.

Making candles is fun and easy after a few basic techniques are mastered so if you like craft hobbies consider becoming a candle maker you’ll be happy you did.

Clever containers can make the difference from imaginative and so-so candles. Chandlers are always on the lookout for ways to present their finished candles in a exciting and unusual manner. Many different kinds of containers can be used for a candle jar. Unique holders in the past have included vases, bottles, glasses and bowls of all shapes and sizes. Purchasing candle making jars from the internet offers even more opportunity for variety. You can use an unusual shape to set off creative impulses in your imagination. Sometime the candle creation is routine but the container is special.

Craft stores are popular places to find candle jars and containers. Craft stores have supplies devoted to candles and their containers. They also have flower arranging supplies such as vases. Either of these offer ideas for unusual candle containers. Browsing in the craft store may give you other candle jar ideas.

A few stores dedicated to supplies for making candles exist in the real world. You are more likely to find such supplies on the Internet. Not only jars, but all the other helpful candle making supplies can be found online. Candle making e-boutiques are sure to give you some ideas for new candle creations in your home.

Another design that works for creating candles at home is by using a Mason jar or similar containers. This type of jar glass is good for candles because it is strong enough to handle boiling water used in canning. Temperature extreme are a certain when canning. They are also common when candles heat up and the flames feed on the wick. If you are not impressed with the appearance of the regular canning jar, look at decorative canning jars intended for jelly.

You can’t use jars that are too narrow through the neck, because the proximity of the flame to the glass can cause the glass to break. The temperature extreme can be too much for a jar with a narrow neck. Very wide and flat bowls used as candle jars can also create some design issues. You may have to use more than one wick to balance the proportions of the flame and the wax.

Unusual shapes give a variety of candle-making ideas. Candles selected from a craft store might come in round, cylindrical, square and irregular shapes. Use the multitude of shapes and sizes to spark your creativity.

The right color, shape, scent and wick construction is what makes the candle design work. You can use all the right products, but they must also be put together with imagination and creative. Using good quality products gives you the best results. The successful final product will be a combination of color, jar shape and good burn patterns in the candle.

Candle making jars come in clear and opaque jars for better expression of your creative ideas. The best looking candles also have a nice scent to affect your mood in a positive way. When you get the right mood with your home crafted candle, your whole day will go better.

Homemade crafts dolls make wonderful collectibles that are very popular at craft fairs. Their beauty and uniqueness really add to the decor of a child’s room. Even if you don’t plan on selling them, making dolls is an easy and fun art and craft project for even young kids. In this article, we’ll show you how to make dolls at home simply and inexpensively.

Apple dolls are great crafts for kids. You’ll need a vegetable peeler, paring knife, colored markers or paint, wool yarn, scissors, a 16-ounce plastic bottle, a bottle cork, fabric scraps and a rubber band. Pick the biggest apple that you can find for the head because it will shrink significantly as it dries.

Peel and core the apple and carve a face on one side. Use the tip of a potato peeler to hollow out deep-set eyes and a paring knife to make a slit for a smile. If you’re a good carver, you can add ears and eyebrows.

Store the carved apple in a dry spot until it shrinks. Once the head is dry, use colored markers or water-based paints to enhance the eyes, lips and rosy cheeks. To make the body, cut the base off the plastic bottle and plug the top with a cork to serve as the doll’s neck.

Wrap the fabric around the body so that it extends beyond the top and the bottom of the bottle. Secure the fabric around the bottleneck with a rubber band and then fold the cloth down. Now top off the doll by gently pushing the cored apple down onto the cork. You’ll end up with a really fun and unique looking doll.

Dolls are popular all over the world. One holiday that Japanese girls look forward to is Hina Matsuri, a day dedicated entirely to dolls. To make your own Japanese paper craft dolls, you’ll need poster board, construction paper, colored markers and tape. From a piece of poster board, cut out a simple doll’s body that measures about 7 inches tall.

For the kimono, cut out a 6-inch square from colored construction paper and from a sheet of black paper, cut out a 6 by 3/8-inch sash and a wig. In the center of the wig, cut a horizontal opening that’s wide enough to accommodate the doll’s head.

With colored markers or pencils, draw on a face. Next, fold down the top of the kimono 3/8 inch from the edge to form a collar and color it with a marker. Lay the kimono flat so that the folded collar is facedown. Fit the wig onto the doll’s head and then center the body on top of the kimono.

Fold a top corner of the kimono down over the doll’s shoulder. Working on the same side of the kimono, fold the paper vertically to cover the doll’s body. Use the same method to fold the opposite side of the kimono. Finally, wrap the sash around the doll from front to back and tape the ends together. These make beautiful decorations in a young girl’s room.

Of all crafts dolls, rag dolls are the most popular and adored. Get a piece of construction paper and fold the paper in half, length-wise. Draw half a body along the fold, so that when the paper is opened the two halves will be symmetrical. The body does not need to be elaborate. A simple gingerbread style with extended arms and legs is perfect.

Draw a second outline about one inch farther out on the paper. This allows for the extra material needed to stitch together the front and back of the rag doll. Cut out the shape using this outer line. Unfold the doll pattern and lay it on a piece of muslin or other lightweight cotton material that will comprise the rag doll’s body. Cut out the shape twice for the front and back of the rag doll.

On the front, use fabric paint and buttons to create facial features. Sew or hand-stitch the front and back together leaving a 3-inch gap at the crotch to stuff with polyfill to fill out the body. Once the body has been filled, sew up the gap and you’re done!

Making crafts dolls is a wonderful way to introduce your child to the world of art. It encourages them to be creative, and it also teaches them about shapes and colors. Even if your child is older, they can make a doll that they can play with.

If they really become an art and craft fan, they can make a whole collection of hand made dolls! Their beauty is timeless and will make a wonderful childhood keepsake for a lifetime.

Article by Woodworking Projects And Plans Review

If you are one of those people who enjoys building woodworking plans, crafts and projects and some basic carpentry skills this website will interest you in the same way that it did me.

The site is and it was the best that I have ever seen:

There are over 16,000 (!) woodworking plans which you can download instantly. You will not be disappointed

with this one as I have tried some of the others and they were lacking in the instructions which they gave and were hard to understand. I wanted to try my hand at making some bunkbeds for my two kids so I came across this website and decided to give it a try. The advertisement that I found gave me the website for Ted’s Woodworking so when my curiosity got the better of me I clicked on to see what it was all about.Ted Mcgrath was the originator of this site and is a professional woodworker so he knows what he is talking about. There were so many woodworking plans with this collection and you will not believe this but there are over 16,000 plans in the one package deal. This is really something to find that many all together. For someone like me who is just really starting to get involved with woodworking this was like letting me loose in a candy store and telling me I could have anything I wanted. That was my dream when I was a kid.Well I was very skeptical as there are all kinds of websites for the exact same thing and you have to be careful and I was wondering how one person could possibly get that many plans and woodworking blueprints put together but Ted did it.I decided to buy it and was not at all disappointed as the pages were done in full color and they were laid out and very detailed which made it easy to follow. I really found it hard to put down and do some other things when I got it as it is so interesting. It gave me new ideas for summer woodworking projects!

I figured that with a unconditional money back guarantee that I was given and after a period of sixty days that I had nothing to lose. All I had to do if it was not what I was looking for would be to send it back and get my money back. You can not get any better deal than that.

When I got access to the download area, I was pleasantly surprised with the layout and organization of the plans. With 16,000 woodworking plans, you would expect it to be disorganized somewhat. However, I found it pretty easy to locate the exact project I want. In all honestly, I do not know how he does it for that price all those plans. It must have taken him a long time to put all that together but am I ever glad he did.
